Fee: Euro € 150.00 includes instruction, some course material, and a WCF Ice Technician participation certificate.  The WCF Ice Technician Manual (Curling Ice Explained – CIE) will be available for purchase at   € 50.00 each.

Course Content:

Using the WCF Ice Technician Manual (Curling Ice Explained – CIE) numerous topics will be discussed in the classroom and demonstrated on ice:

§  The development of the game and its demand on curling ice

§  Specific definition of curling ice, game tactics

§  The floors of a curling rink

§  Measuring, painting and the lines

§  Actual ice installation

§  Flooding

§  Curling ice in an arena

§  Maintaining the ice pad (scraping, etc.)

§  Routines and equipment, end of season maintenance

§  Pebbling

§  Temperature and other readings

§  Humidity, heating and ventilation, lighting

§  Water, ice and curling stone quality

§  The refrigeration system and energy

Leif Öhman Head Ice Technician at World, World Junior and European Curling Championships for more than 15 years. Head Ice Technician at 1998, 2002 and 2006 Olympic Games. Educated as traffic and construction engineer. Member of the Executive Board of the WCF and the Swedish Curling Association.
   
Hans Wuthrich Head Ice Technician at World, World Junior, Canadian and European Curling Championships for more than 15 years. Certified Level 4 Canadian Curling Association Ice Technician. Licensed for 200 tons+ refrigeration. Power Engineer’s Certificate , Manitoba, Canada. Head Ice Technician for the 2010 Olympic Games.
